The invention relates to a tool for machining for boring or milling, comprising a base body (2) that can be rotated about a tool axis and a holding element (16) having a cutting insert seat which holding element can be fastened to the base body (2). The aim of the invention is to devise a tool that can be easily produced at low cost and that allows the axial adjustment of the cutting insert in relation to the base body to a larger extent than according to the prior art. The tool according to the invention is characterized by an adjusting mechanism for axially adjusting the holding element (16) in relation to the base body (2).
