<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophoretic display device having excellent moisture preventing characteristics, and preventing performance deterioration for a long time, and also to provide a method for manufacturing the same. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The electrophoretic display device has: an element substrate 2 having a display region; an electrophoretic sheet 3 having an electrophoretic layer 31 on a transparent substrate 30 and stuck to the display region of the element substrate 2; and a moisture preventing film 50 formed to cover at least the electrophoretic sheet 3 and an upper part of the element substrate 2 of an outer peripheral part of the electrophoretic sheet 3.
