1,243,135. Bags. RAPID AMERICAN CORP. 20 June, 1969 [21 Oct., 1968], No. 31302/69. Heading A4G. A luggage bag comprises a bottom wall, opposed side walls and opposed end walls, the end walls merging with a top wall, said walls being constructed of mouldable material and being integrally connected as a monolithic moulded structure, wherein, at an initial stage of manufacture, the bag bottom has either a longitudinal access opening or an openable portion. Welting, simulated stitching, simulated reinforcing strips, and feet may all be integrally moulded into the surface. An upper access opening may be closed by a zipper unit which may be heat-sealed on to the body. The bottom opening is used to provide access to heat-seal the closure unit to the top access opening, and the top opening then used to provide access to heat-seal a reinforcing panel to, and seal the bottom wall. The heat-sealing is preferably carried out by radio-frequency heating. Handles may be secured to the bag by means of rivets. |
