RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ NV 16 Nov 1970 [17 Nov 1969 21 May 1970] 56130/69 and 24634/70 Heading A5E A slow-release pesticidal composition comprises a volatile organic phosphorus-containing compound as active ingredient (e.g. dichlorvos) and a heterogeneous polymeric system having at least two mixed polymeric phases, one phase having a calculated solubility parameter of from 8.7 cal. <SP>¢</SP>/c.c.<SP>¢</SP> up to and including cal.<SP>¢</SP>/c.c.<SP>¢</SP> and the other phase having a calculated solubility parameter of either below 8.7 cal.<SP>¢</SP>/c.c.<SP>¢</SP> or about 12.0 cal. <SP>¢</SP>/c.c.<SP>¢</SP>, as carrier. The polymer phase having a calculated solubility parameter of from 8.7 cal. <SP>¢</SP>/c.c.<SP>¢</SP>, up to and including 12.0 cal. <SP>¢</SP>/c.c.<SP>¢</SP> may belong to the group consisting of polyethylene, polybutadiene, polyisoprene, cyclo rubber, polyisobutene, ethylene-propylene-diene rubber, ethylene-vinylacetate copolymer and styrene-butadiene rubber. Alternatively the two polymeric phases may be provided by a block copolymer, e.g. a polystyrene-polybutadiene-polystyrene block copolymer. Examples illustrate the release rate of insecticide from moulded strips. |
