[Also in Division C1] Organo silanes containing an Si-H bond are disproportionated by a catalyst selected from active carbon, transition metal halides and transition metal cyanides. The metal halide or cyanide is preferably dispersed in an alkali metal halide. The transition metals include Cu, Ag and Au and the preferred metal -halides and cyanides are silver chloride, cuprous chloride and cuprous cyanide. The disproportionation of trimethoxy silane into dimethoxy and tetra- - methoxy silanes is exemplified (Example 8). |
