PURPOSE: A sealing device for a steam control valve is provided to cut down on part costs by suppressing the abrasion and damage of the balance seal. CONSTITUTION: A balance cylinder(34) and a window cage(38) are installed inside a body and a bonnet(22) of a valve. A balance seal(42) is inserted between the bottom of the balance cylinder and the top of the window cage. A backup ring(54) of metal material is laminated on the top or/and bottom of the balance seal so as to reduce the clearance to the balance cylinder and the window cage. Slits are formed at regular intervals along the perimeter of the backup ring.
