Bis-silyl fluoro aromatics, and polymers derived from them. The compounds have the formula: in which X is H, halogen or a 1C-10C perfluoroalkyl radical, R is halogen, a lower alkyl radical, alkoxy or CH2CH2RF in which RF is a 1-10C perfluoroalkyl, hydroxyl radical or H. New fluoro-silyl phenylene polymers may be prepared from these compounds. The polymers, suitably fluids gums or resins, are used as lubricants, coating compositions and insulating materials.
