<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently and constantly supply stable power following load fluctuation of an elevator even when a fuel cell is used. Ž<P>SOLUTION: When supplying power using the fuel cell 24, a main control device 27 controls charging/discharging operation with respect to a battery 26 according to the operating state of the elevator. During regenerative operation, along with regenerative power, power of the fuel cell 24 is accumulated in the battery 26, and during power running operation, power accumulated in the battery 26 is discharged and is supplied to a drive system in addition to power of the fuel cell 24.
