PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display providing enhanced display image quality more than before while enhancing the visual field angle characteristics of luminance in the liquid crystal display using a liquid crystal of a VA (Vertical Alignment) mode. SOLUTION: In a multiplexing drive operation for a sub pixel 20A, in a high luminance area, a liquid crystal application voltage to a liquid crystal element 22A tends to be a low voltage compared to an intermediate luminance area while being on a high voltage side at or above an input application voltage corresponding to video signals D1. Thus, compared to the conventional multiplexing drive operation, the azimuth angle deflection of the liquid crystal is not easily generated. Also, in the multiplexing drive operation for a sub pixel 20B, in a low luminance area, a liquid crystal application voltage to a liquid crystal element 22B tends to be a high voltage compared to the intermediate luminance area while being on a low voltage side at or below the input application voltage corresponding to the video signals D1.
