<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more surely prevent sulfur poisoning of a filter provided with silver, copper, ceria or the like. <P>SOLUTION: This exhaust emission control device is provided with an S trap catalyst 12 capable of storing a sulfur component in exhaust gas disposed in an engine exhaust passage, and a particulate filter 15 disposed at an exhaust gas downstream side of the S trap catalyst in the engine exhaust gas passage and provided with ceria particles and oxygen disengaging metal particles disengaging oxygen from substance containing oxygen. When the sulfur component stored by the S trap catalyst is disengaged, the temperature of a particulate filter is set to a temperature not lower than a sulfur storage prevention temperature. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
