PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigator providing more convenience for a user, by enabling point retrieval using updated point data before all update processing using update data is completed after acquiring the update data. SOLUTION: The navigator, which includes a database for reference including a database for retrieval to be referred to when retrieving a point on a map, receives the provided update data, and updates the database for reference, has: a preferential processing means for preferentially executing the update processing of point data stored in the database for retrieval when an instruction for the point retrieval is input during the update processing of the database for reference; and a retrieval means for enabling the execution of the point retrieval using the updated point data after the update processing of the point data by the preferential processing means ends.
