<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a light emitting diode to emit light at a higher gradation resolution, and to reduce a load of processing of a high-order control device required for its operation. <P>SOLUTION: A reception part 21 receives command data from a CPU11. An operation state commanding part 32 recognizes the command data and turns ON/OFF switches SW1 and SW2. A control signal generating part 52, when the switches SW1 and SW2 are turned ON or OFF, outputs a charging voltage of a capacitor C2 to a comparison part 53 as a control signal. A sawtooth wave generating part 51 generates a sawtooth wave. The comparison part 53 compares an input voltage of the control signal with a voltage of sawtooth wave. An output part 54 drives a light emitting diode based on the comparison results of the comparison part 53.
