<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely prevent air from being mixed in when mounting a balloon. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A first ring part 40 of the balloon 25 is fitted in a first attaching groove 45 provided on the distal end part 30 of the insertion part 20 of an ultrasonic endoscope 10. The distal end part 30 is immersed in the water of a container 60 filled with the water beforehand. As a balloon contraction button 52 is pressed, the water inside the container 60 is sucked and the inside of a water supply/discharge conduit 35 is filled with the water. At the time, air is eliminated from inside a flow path to a supply/discharge port 36, the water supply/discharge conduit 35, a tube 23, and a tank 17. In the water inside the container 60, a second ring part 41 of the balloon 25 which is unattached yet is pulled up to be fitted and attached to a second attaching groove 46.
