PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a glass substrate, with which a manufacturing process is simple and a glass substrate having a precise size and excellent mechanical characteristics can be obtained. SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing a glass substrate includes the steps of: forming a resin pattern having etching resistance to the etchant of a glass base plate on the main surface of the glass base plate; cutting off the glass base plate into a desired shape using the resin pattern as a mask with the etchant capable of etching the glass base plate; and removing the resin pattern formed on the glass base plate.
