PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surgical access apparatus to be releasably and reliably fixed within the tissue of a patient during a period when a low-invasive treatment is continuously performed.
SOLUTION: The surgical access apparatus for positioning within an incision in tissue includes an elongated seal member and a deployment member. The elongated seal member includes a longitudinal passageway for the reception and passage of a surgical object, is adapted to transition between first and second conditions, is composed of an at least semi-resilient material such that the elongated seal member is normally biased towards the first condition thereof. The deployment member is the one whose distal longitudinal movement along the longitudinal axis causes the elongated seal member to transition from the first condition to the second condition, which may be detached from the elongated seal member in a state where the elongated seal member is in the first condition, thereby leaving the elongated seal member within the incision to receive the surgical object.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
