<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrodeless discharge lamp lighting device capable of reducing an electric stress applied to a circuit component at the time of staring. <P>SOLUTION: There are provided an induction coil that is placed closely to the electrodeless discharge lamp, a direct current power supply circuit that outputs a direct current power, and an inverter circuit that converts the direct current power output from the direct current power supply circuit into an alternating-current power to be supplied to the induction coil. Just after the staring of the electrodeless discharge lamp, the inverter circuit slowly decreases an operating frequency f from an initial value f3 to a constant value f2 so that the amplitude of an output voltage Vx to the induction coil is slowly increased. At the time of staring, the electric stress applied to the circuit component when the inverter circuit starts the output of the voltage Vx to the induction coil is reduced in comparison with the case where the operating frequency f is set to the constant value f2 just after staring. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
