<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeder capable of pulling out jam paper without large resistance in unchanged form and solving a problem of waste of the paper and remaining of piece of paper, and an image forming device provided with this. <P>SOLUTION: In the paper feeder for feeding the paper by cassette paper feeding rollers 13a, 13b or a manual paper feeding roller 5 rotated/driven by a motor (drive source) 33, a ratchet mechanism 50 for shutting off transmission of rotation in an opposite paper feeding direction is provided on a drive transmission route reached from the motor 33 to at least the manual paper feeding roller 5.
