<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make setting of the number of persons scheduled to be imaged unnecessary, and to record an image captured when the number of persons to be captured included in an image capturing range has changed. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A CPU 2 detects faces of persons included in an image captured by an image capturing part 1 to count the number of faces in response to detection of a full depression operation of a shutter button. Then, the number of counted faces is stored in a predetermined region of a memory part 3. After that, the CPU 2 detects the faces included in the captured image again, and counts the number of faces. When the number of counted faces is equal to or less than the number of faces stored in the predetermined region of the memory part 3, the CPU 2 repeats processing for detecting the faces included in the captured image to count the number of faces. At the same time, when the number of counted faces exceeds the number of stored faces, the captured image is recorded in recording media 5 after lapse of a predetermined time.
