PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire further improved in on-snow performance. SOLUTION: A tread 16A on one cross side of the tire has softer rubber, a lug groove 24A having a smaller width WA and lower sipe density than that of a tread 16B on the other cross side of the tire. This improves the surface friction force of the tread 16A on one cross side of the tire, and also increases the land area of the tread 16A to increase the surface friction force of blocks. The tread 16A having lower sipe density than that of the tread 16B on the other cross side of the tire suppresses the lowering of block rigidity to make the blocks hardly fall down, thus improving a gripping force.
