PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device capable of determining change of scene with high precision and performing proper FRC processing when performing the FRC processing of movement compensation type. SOLUTION: This image display device is provided with an FRC part 16 for converting the number of frames or the number of fields of an input image signal by inserting the image signal on which movement compensation processing is applied between the frames or the fields of the input image signal internally and outputting it into a display panel and a scene change detection part 6 for detecting whether scene is changed or not based on the histogram of the input image signal.
