PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display device is provided to improve the occurrence of a motion blur by blocking light for a motion blur section which is locally generated. CONSTITUTION: An image extractor(160) analyzes data signals supplied to an LCD panel and detects the local motion blur occurrence of the LCD panel. A backlight unit(170) has off sections to be synchronized with the section in which local motion blur detected from an image abstraction section is generated.
