In an elevator device, first and second electromagnetic switches are provided between first and second magnet coils of first and second brake devices and a power source. A brake controlling section includes a first magnet coil control switch provided between the first magnet coil and a ground section, a second magnet coil control switch provided between the second magnet coil and the ground section, a first processing section for opening and closing the first electromagnetic switch and the first magnet coil control switch by following a brake operation instruction given from an operation controlling section and a second processing section for opening and closing the second electromagnetic switch and the second magnet coil control switch by following the brake operation instruction.
