Welding glass sheets - using polyphase ac voltage source to sheet edges

Edges of glass sheets are welded together by heating to near the strain point (800-950 degrees C) and intensifying the heating on the edges of one sheet (by painting the edges with a graphite dispersion) using a polyphase AC voltage source coupled to the edges through saturable reactors an a transformer circuit. One phase of the source is coupled through a saturable reactor across one pair of opposite edges and another phase is coupled through a saturable reactor across the other pair of opposite edges. The output current is approx. equal on all four edges. Used in production of multiple glazing unit.
