The computer tomography (CT) apparatus has an X-ray tube (C2) on a gantry (9) to rotate around the test object. The X-rays are produced by a cathode (2) and an anode (1) with a voltage (U1) between them to give an electron beam (4) between the cathode and a focus (F1) on the anode, which can be interrupted. During an X-ray tube rotation a number of readings are taken to determine the intensity of the X-ray beams (5) at the detector and the X-ray emission at the anode focus is interrupted between two successive readings.
