PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a switching power supply device equipped with a resonance-type switching converter which prevents a penetration current from flowing out to a switching element, at the start of power supply operation. SOLUTION: The switching power supply device includes: switching means SW1, SW2, including at least the two switching elements; a means 11 which alternately switching-drives the two switching elements; a means which insulates the primary side and the secondary side, performs rectifying smoothing operation, by inputting a voltage which is excited at the secondary side, and then generates a secondary-side DC voltage; a means 10 which generates an oscillation signal, by using a prescribed frequency on the basis of an output voltage signal from the secondary-side DC voltage generation means; and a means 15, which monitors the oscillation signal generated from the oscillation means and counts the number of oscillation. The switching power supply device is also characterized in that the counting means counts a constant count number, and the switching power supply device is controlled so as to be turned on for a time which is longer than the time at which the oscillation signal which is counted, immediately prior to being turned on.
