OPTICAL MEMBER AND GRID POLARIZING FILM

Disclosed is an optical member comprising: a recessed/projected base which has, in at least a part of the surface, a recessed/projected surface having corrugations with a period of not more than 900 nm; and a protective layer formed on the recessed/projected surface.  The optical member is characterized in that the protective layer contains an organic material and inorganic fine particles having an average particle diameter of not more than 100 nm.  A grid polarizing film composed of the optical member is also disclosed.
