PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a color filter excellent in lightness and a contrast ratio, to provide a color filter having excellent lightness and a contrast ratio, and to provide an image display device and electronic equipment having the color filter.

SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the color filter is the method for manufacturing the color filter having colored portions in a plurality of colors, the method including: a substrate preparing step of preparing a substrate; a colored portion forming step of forming colored portions in a plurality of colors by using a photolithographic process on the substrate; an ink imparting step of imparting an ink containing a light-shielding material into between adjacent colored portions on the substrate by an inkjet system; and a light-shielding portion forming step of forming a light-shielding portion by drying the discharged ink.
