In a copying machine tool, e.g. a copymilling, grinding or engraving machine, having a copying device 4, 5 for following the outline of a template 6 and controlling the rotation of one or more work spindles 2 in accordance therewith, indexing of the spindles is effected by movement of the template relative to the copying device. In an hydraulic copy-milling machine for milling flutes in tools such as drills &c. the template is mounted at an angle adjustable against a scale 15 on a slide 8 and the slide may be fed in the direction of arrow A for indexing the spindles, by a pinion 12 engaging a rack 13 on the slide 8. An index plate 9 coaxial with the pinion 12 and co-operating locking pin 11 determine the extent of indexing movement of the slide 8 and lock it against movement during machining. |
