The component (1) has a rotary valve (2) provided with a rotatable supported cross-section adjusting unit (3), to which an actuator (10) is attached. A return spring (8) e.g. torsion spring (7), is attached to the cross-section adjusting unit and repels the cross-section adjusting unit in a starting position e.g. emergency-operation position, where the adjusting unit is unscrewed from the starting position against a force of the return spring. A transmission (11) self locks toward the actuator and is arranged between a clutch (9) and the actuator. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating of an electromechanical component.
