PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pulse oximetry and pulse oximeter in which, with respect to the pulsative waveform of measured transmitted light, the whole of time series data of the transmitted light is used without determining the peaks and bottoms, whereby an artifact of body motion is eliminated, and contribution to improvement of the measurement accuracy of arterial oxygen saturation (SaO2) is obtained. SOLUTION: The pulse oximetry includes: irradiating living tissue with a plurality of light beams of different wavelengths respectively by a light emitting element; receiving the light beams transmitted through or reflected from the living tissue by a light receiving element and converting them to electric signals respectively; time-segmenting time series data of the electric signals obtained by the light receiving element; calculating, with respect to each of the segmented time series data, a slope value of a regression line between two different wavelengths; calculating SaO2 based on the calculated slope value; and obtaining a mode value of SaO2 on the basis of the histogram of SaO2 for each predetermined time segment and thus obtaining the oxygen saturation of arterial blood in which the artifact of the body motion is eliminated.
