PURPOSE: An internet protocol television system, a server for providing a broadcasting program, and a method for receiving and transmitting an internet protocol television broadcast are provided to periodically update summary information about a real-time broadcasting program, thereby easily selecting a channel. CONSTITUTION: A set top box(100) comprises the following units. A broadcasting program receiver/classifier(101) receives broadcasting contents. The classifier classifies the broadcasting contents. A broadcasting program storage(102) stores the classified broadcasting program. A program summary information storage(103) stores summary information of the classified program.
