The noble metal being supported on the upstream-side catalytic portion 20 oxidizes SO 2 efficiently to turn it into SO x , because the lowering of oxidizing activities is suppressed. These SO x are retained by means of storage in the SO x storage material being loaded on the downstream-side catalytic portion 21. Therefore, the SO x storing performance improves, and it is good in terms of durability as well. |
