<p>A composite article, e.g. a transporting pallet comprising a platform, consists of a rigid internal reinforcing skeleton e.g. of timber, and an outer layer over the whole or part of the surface of the platform consisting of light foamed plastic, pref. expanded polystyrene. The addition of a lightweight foamed plastic outside coating considerably strengthens the skeleton, enabling it to be made lighter than an uncoated skeleton.</p> |
