An image developer (1), including a developer bearer configured to be rotatable facing an electrostatic latent image bearer (10); a developer feeder (4) feeding a developer including a toner to the developer bearer (2); a developer collector (5) collecting the developer which is left on the developer bearer (2) after the developer is fed to the electrostatic latent image bearer (10) and which is then separated from the developer bearer (2); a detour route (9) including a developer stirrer and transferer (6) stirring the developer and transferring the developer from the developer collector to the developer feeder; a first opening (B)connecting the developer feeder (4)with the detour route (8) ; a second opening (A) connecting the detour route (9) with the developer collector (5) ; and a third opening (T) connecting to a developer supplier for supplying the developer to the image developer, wherein the image developer contains toner having a volume-average particle diameter of from 3 to 8 µm and a ratio (Dv/Dn) of the volume-average particle diameter (Dv) to a number-average particle diameter (Dn) thereof of from 1.00 to 1.40. |
