One aspect of the present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for controlling an open/shut means using a back electromotive force of a motor, and particularly, to an apparatus and a method for controlling an open/shut means by generating a back electromotive force of a motor in cases where the rotating open/shut means is shut. The apparatus for controlling the open/shut means using the back electromotive force of the motor of the present invention, wherein the open/shut means is rotating, includes a motor driving unit for operating the open/shut means by driving the motor and thus driving a motorized damper; a position sensing unit for sensing the position of the open/shut means operated by the motor driving unit; a power cutoff unit for receiving an open/shut means position signal from the position sensing unit, and cutting off power if it is determined that the open/shut means is located at a preset position from the received position signal; and a back electromotive force generating unit for generating a back electromotive force of the motor in cases where the power cutoff unit cuts off power.
