Class 75(4) The control gear 8 for a fluorescent tubular lamp or lamps 13 is mounted in enclosed manner at one end of the lighting fitting which includes inverted channel members 14 lying closely over each fluorescent tubular lamp 13 and carrying a common end cap 15 containing the lamp holders for the other ends of the lamps; a rigid suspension conduit 9 is attached to the fitting preferably at the point of balance of the fitting. The inverted channel member 14, with ornamental edge, is clamped at one end between two striplike plates 4, 5 held together by screws 6 the lower plate 4 having an upturned portion carrying a vertical plate 7 to which the control gear 8 is secured; the upper plate 5 has a screw socket 5a and grub screw 10 to receive the rigid suspension conduit 9 attached at 11 to the ceiling. A two-part cover 19 encloses the control gear and also the lamp holders 12 at that particular end of the lighting fitting. A clip 18 secured to the lower plate 4 and a tongue 17 pressed out of the base of the inverted channel 14 hold the wiring 16 in position on its way to the lamp holder in the end cap 15. According to the Provisional Specification the end of the channel member within the end cap 15 may have an earthing contact to bear on the outer end of the lamp and a cotter pin may be substituted for the grub screw 10 of the suspension member socket 5a. |
