Electrode consists of a powder core contng. 15-26 wt.% fluorspar and 5-10 wt.% marble with additions of ferromanganese, ferrosilicon, alumina and manganese ore, balance iron pwder, in a steel sheath. Welding is carried out in an inert atmosphere and best results are obtd. with automatic or semi-automatic equipment. The position and inclination of the joint is unimportant. Weld metal deposition can be achieved with little or no splatter, yielding welds resistant to hot cracking and cavity formation.
