<p>1338884 Extruding sheets; oriented plastics laminates TETRA PAK DEVELOPPEMENT SA 28 June 1972 [8 July 1971] 30314/72 Headings B5A and B5N [Also in Division B8] A material which may comprise an extruded polystyrene foam web 30 having a layer of homogenous polystyrene film 32, or a layer of polyethylene or polypropylene has the layer molecularly orientated to facilitate tearing open a packet made therefrom. The orientation is accomplished by extruding the layer 32 on to the previously extruded web 30 and moving the web at a speed appreciably faster than the layer is extruded from the extruder 31. The material subsequently passes through cooled press rolls 28, 29. The web may be from 25 to 1À5 mm. in thickness and the layer between 0À02 and 0À2 mm. The other surface of the web may have a plastics layer coated thereon to enhance its appearance.</p>
