PURPOSE: A method and a terminal for searching characters are provided to search words within subtitle data synchronized with multimedia contents. CONSTITUTION: A search unit(135) loads subtitle data synchronized with multimedia contents into a memory. The search unit classifies the loaded subtitle data into word units. The search unit drives a dictionary application in order to search the classified words. The search unit sets link information as the searched results according to each word. A reproduction unit(137) decodes and reproduces the multimedia contents and the subtitle data. An input unit(115) receives a searching target word of the reproducing subtitle data.
