PROCESS FOR PRODUCING AROMATIC CARBONATE AND PRODUCED AROMATIC CARBONATE

A process for producing an aromatic carbonate is disclosed comprising the following steps: (I) transesterifying a starting material selected from the group consisting of a dialkyl carbonate, an alkyl aryl carbonate and mixture thereof, a reactant selected from the group consisting of an aromatic monohydroxy compound in the presence of a catalyst, to thereby obtain a high boiling point reaction mixture comprising the target aromatic carbonate (a) and an aromatic carbonate ether (b), and a low-boiling reaction mixture is discharged; and (II) a step in which the aromatic carbonate ether (b) is separated from the high-boiling reaction mixture producing high-purity aromatic carbonate.
