An air permeability inspection device for a filter cigarette (FT) has plate- like packing (18a). The packing (18a) covers an opening of a movable tube (1 0) and an end surface of the filter cigarette (FT) is relatively pressed to the packing. The packing (18a) has a hole (18c) positioned at the center of the pressed end surface, an inner annular region (18f) surrounding the hole (18c ), and an outer annular region (18g) surrounding the inner annular region (18f) . The outer annular region (18g) is more likely to be elastically deformed tha n the inner annular region (18f) and comes to be in intimate contact with the outer peripheral edge of the pressed end surface.
