A method for correcting funnel-shaped thorax provides for two transverse axillary and one subxyphoidal cuts of thorax, the manual mobilization of the retrosternal space, the generation of the retrosternal tunnel, the insertion of T-shaped arched plate with the stabilizing section into the tunnel with the aid of the guide, its 180° turn over the most hollow site of the thorax, and its fixation to the ribs at the opposite ends of the stabilizing section and in subxyphoidal space. T-shaped arched plate is located over sternum subfascially, and its position prior to fixation is corrected from the suprasternal aponeurotic space by pressing onto the apex of the deformity in the opposite direction relative to the backbone. Then the center of then plate is rigidly screwed to sternum with the spongious screw. The additional ligature is placed subperichondrally on the both sides of the screw passing the ligature as U-shaped knots over the posterior costal surfaces, above and beneath the stabilizing section of the plate. |
