<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a foreign matter removal device for an internal combustion engine, suppressing outflow of collected foreign matter by comparatively simple structure. <P>SOLUTION: This foreign matter removal device 30 includes a collecting chamber 31 provided in a low-pressure EGR passage 17 provided to the internal combustion engine 1 for collecting the foreign matter in exhaust gas, having an inlet 32 and an outlet 33 respectively arranged in a position higher than a bottom surface 31a, and allowing the exhaust gas led to flow into from the inlet 32 to be discharged from the outlet 33 through an inside. The collecting chamber 31 is provided with a baffle plate 34 so that a down portion 35 allowing the exhaust gas led to flow into from the inlet 32 to flow downwardly toward the bottom surface 31a and an up portion 36 arranged downstream of the down portion 35 and allowing the exhaust gas to flow upwardly from the bottom surface 31a toward the outlet 33 are formed inside of the collecting chamber 31.
