PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide coating for a component which firstly contacts with a liquid silicon and thereafter a silicon which is recrystallizing, in which bonding or baking is certainly inhibited even during handling relatively a lot of melt, and the action of the liquid silicon to a relatively large component area is certainly inhibited over a long contact time relating to a melting pot with silicon protective layers, a method for applying such a layer and the use thereof. SOLUTION: The melting pot of graphite, a ceramic or quartz includes a silicon nitride protective layer, wherein the layer consists of a silicon nitride powder including particles, and the silicon nitride powder has 0.3% to 5% by weight of an oxygen rate of content and the length to diameter ratio is <10.
