<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophoretic display for suppressing increase in power consumption. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Since a floating electrode corresponding to each pixel electrode is provided between adjacent pixel electrodes, a distance between the adjacent pixel electrodes can be made larger. The influence of a potential difference generated between the adjacent pixel electrodes is lessened by making the distance between the adjacent pixel electrodes larger, and the occurrence of leakage current is suppressed. Thereby, the increase of power consumption is suppressed. In addition, the floating electrode is induced in potential of the pixel electrodes, and since the potential generates in itself, display is performed even in a region provided by the floating electrode.
