PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide such a method for manufacturing a polymerized gel sheet which has a very little content of water-insoluble components and a high molecular weight, as is capable of cooling sufficiently the upper face on a monomer solution without generating a cooling waste water in a photopolymerization of a water-soluble monomer, and to provide a reaction apparatus for use in the photopolymerization reaction by the manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the polymerized gel sheet is characterized in that a polymerization process of carrying out a photopolymerization reaction by irradiating a light onto the monomer solution X containing a water-soluble monomer, comprises a photopolymerization reaction while cooling the monomer solution X by the supply of a coolant onto the upper face of the flowability-decreased monomer solution X and by the gasification of the coolant. The reaction apparatus 1 for use in the photopolymerization is provided with a support 12 set up with weirs 10 for regulating the width of a monomer solution X; a monomer feeding means 24 for supplying the monomer solution X onto the support 12; a light-irradiation means 34 for irradiating the monomer solution X with a light; and a coolant supplying means 40 for feeding a coolant to a flowability-decreased monomer aqueous solution X.
