Disclosed is an indole derivative of formula I, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, wherein A is a 5-membered aromatic heterocyclic ring, with X1, X2, and X3 each being N, O, S, or CR, Y is CH2, O, S, or SO2, R1 is C1-4alkyl, C1-4alkyloxy, CN, or halogen, R2 and R3 may together form a 4-7 membered ring, R3 and R4 may together form a 4-8 membered ring, and wherein the other substituents are as described in the specification. Also described is the use of the compound for treating pain.
