<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an instrument for measuring a ratio of a light signal to a noise, capable of regulating easily a polarization controller, and capable of measuring highly precisely and quickly an OSNR, in the measuring instrument for solving a problem wherein a linear polarization orthogonal to a polarization axis of a polarizer is required to be input in a conventional measuring method, and a problem wherein a time is thereby required for controlling the polarization controller, to make difficult measurement in a short time. <P>SOLUTION: This instrument for measuring the ratio of the light signal to the noise generates a polarized state of reducing a light intensity difference between a signal component and an ASE noise after a signal light is transmitted through the polarizer, by the polarization controller, and calculates the ASE noise based on a stokes parameter of a light after transmitted through a polarization scrambler. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
