PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluid filtering apparatus and a method, wherein a component having a key is included and a correct filter element is surely fitted to a filter base. SOLUTION: Key configuration is provided between a filter element and a filter housing, a filter and the filter base, and the filter base and the filter housing. A locking arrangement may be provided to prevent undesired loosening of the filter relative to the filter base. The filter base may include a torsion lock insert that is engaged with catches of the filter to prevent the undesired loosening.
