PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating composition containing a resol-type phenol resin and an epoxy resin, with which occurrence of fumes is suppressed, and with which a coated film being as excellent in the hygienic characteristics and flavoring property as with a coating composition using an alkali-resol-type phenol resin, and being as excellent in the workability, flexibility, anticorrosion property, adhesiveness, and resistance to sulfurization blackening as with a coating composition using an ammonia-resol-type phenol resin, is formed. SOLUTION: The coating composition contains an epoxy resin and a resol-type phenol resin, wherein the resol-type phenol resin is obtained by making a phenol and an aldehyde react with each other in acidic atmosphere using an acidic catalyst, and further subsequently react in basic atmosphere using a hydroxide of an alkali metal or an alkaline earth metal, and ammonia or an amine, and an equivalent ratio of the phenol to the aldehyde in the coating composition is 0.75-2.0 equivalents of the aldehyde with respect to 1 equivalent theoretical functional hydrogen of the phenol.
